Do you Know your
Grower
Early insights and learning from Sourcery’s Impact and Assurance Programme in India and Pakistan.
Through Sourcery’s Impact and Assurance Programme, Sourcery began to collect essential data that provides a clear picture of who exactly the growers are, where their farms are located, what their households look like, understand their agro-climatic conditions, their current farming practices and pre-existing economic circumstances & transactions.
What we learned is that robust and reliable data requires investment in people and places and must be meaningful, measureable and equitable to everyone.
Please read the “Insight Report: Grower Essentials - Know Your Grower” to learn more about who grows your cotton.
Verified Impact. Anytime and Anywhere.
The Connect App allows you to receive, download and complete all Impact and Assurance data module surveys anytime and anywhere, online or off-line.
Once completed and verified, Sourcery relies on a network of Impact Partners to analyze and report on the commercial, social and environmental performance of our Partners through their data.
Select Partners will receive impact service incentives and may receive future data royalties from the license sale of Bluechip digital assets that contain the data via the Bluechip Exchange data marketplace.

Once capture and verified, select data (non-commercially sensitive) is converted into digital assets or non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called Bluechips that can then be made available for licensed purchase via the forthcoming Sourcery Bluechip Exchange data marketplace.

Transforming Trade for Good, Together
Impact Partners
The data contained in each Impact and Assurance Bluechip is unprocessed (e.g. raw) verified data.
As a commercially neutral sourcing and digital trade platform, Sourcery itself does not make value judgments, analysis, scoring or generate reports of the data contained in each Bluechip.
Instead, Sourcery welcomes qualified Impact Assessors. Impact Assessors are independent professional organisations approved by Sourcery to receive, perform analysis, score and generate reports on the data outcomes using proven scientific methods. Brand, Manufacturer, Grower Partners and third-parties can select any qualified Impact Partner to receive and process the data following the licensed purchase of the corresponding Bluechip.
Sourcery also welcomes Impact Collaborators. Impact Collaborators include mult-stakeholder initiatives, standard owners, certifications and trade associations and third-party service providers that can rely on Sourcery Partner data and Impact Assessor reports to support and inform their various measurement and evaluation frameworks for added transparency, integrity and trust.
-
Impact Assessors are pre-qualified by Sourcery to receive, perform analysis, scoring or generate reports or on the data contained in each Bluechip following a corresponding Bluechip license transaction via the Bluechip Exchange.
Brands, Manufacturer, Trade and Grower Partners and third-parties can select one or more Impact Assessor organisations prior to a license purchase of the Bluechip who can access, process and store the raw data and interpret and perform a professional and scientific assessment and analysis of the data to generate reports, such as Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), geopolitical or social risk registers and reports, greenhouse gas balance sheet, etc.

-
Impact Collaborators include various multi-stakeholder, standards and certification, agronomy orgnanisations such as Better Cotton, USDA, USCTP among others among others who have developed one (1) or more management and evaluation (M&E) frameworks that have BEEN adopted and by Sourcery Partners.
Using the Connect Platform and gaining access to the Bluechip data, Impact Collaborators can more confidently rely on robust empirical and scientific data collected to inform the environmental and social outcomes in their frameworks.
Impact Collaborators do not receive the raw data themselves, they too must rely on a qualified report from one (1) or more Impact Assessor organisations.

Shifting the impact
paradigm
With Impact and Assurance, Sourcery Partners aim to shift the impact paradigm for good— transforming how we collect, verify and value commercial, social environmental impact and traceability.
Authenticity, sovereignty and data equity leads to more meaningful, measurable, and lasting impact that benefits everyone from growers to consumers.
Authenticity
By applying this Impact and Assurance Solution, it is possible to strengthen the authenticity of the fibre origin and materials used in products through verified primary farm-level and chain-of-custody data. The module data scope, criteria, collection methodology, and verification methods aim to increase confidence in chain-of-custody and impact reporting¹ while also helping to inform and elevate existing standards and ‘presumptively’ comply with both existing and emerging trade regulation and sustainability reporting legislation.¹
Sovereignty
Putting data sovereignty, rights and ownership into the hands of growers, grower organisations, traders and manufacturers is critical to transforming trade for good. The Sourcery Connect App uses the Bluenumber® system which offers all Sourcery Partners cutting edge digital identity that protects, stores and ensures proper usage and rights to data. All transactions, images and documents generated on the farm and in the value chain are stored securely on the blockchain on encrypted digital assets called Bluechips, which are non-fungible tokens (NFTs)² that safeguard access and usage and allow for data monetization that benefits our Partners.
Equity
The Impact and Assurance Solution aims to drive more investment in sustainable agriculture and transparent trade by giving Sourcery Partners the option to generate more commercial more value, revenue and profit for their business by licensing their data downstream to Brands and third-parties. This is critical to ensuring that the high costs of professional extension services, disclosure and trade risks of adopting true sustainable progress is shared equitably throughout the value chain which unlocks the resources necessary to scale impact and deliver meaningful, measurable commercial, social and environmental outcomes for all for everyone—grower to consumer.
Impact
Commercial, social, and environmental excellence is a byproduct of more transparent and efficient trade—this is what it means to shift the impact paradigm.
Partners who aim to report their commitments and progress to investors and shareholders (ESG), governments (regulation) and consumers or on their own can do so with more confidence and trust by having the power of empirical and scientific third-party verified data contained in the Bluechips— proving origin, authenticity and impact.
1. Sourcery does not make any value judgments or scoring of the data. Approved Impact Assessors can access the data (via license) to interpret, score and map data to various standards, certifications or legislation or assess any commercial, social and environmental outcomes. 2. An NFT or non-fungible token is a unique digital asset that represents ownership of digital content, such as art, music, images, documents, and data. NFTs cannot be duplicated as they have their own unique identity, and the content stored in them is securely managed on the blockchain, which proves ownership and authenticity and user managed access.
