Our Roots
Sourcery was founded in 2020 on the belief that the existing ‘push-based’ traditional commodity trade system is not built for commercial, social and environmental impact at scale due to the chasm (supply/demand disconnect) that exists between brands and manufacturers who are committed to buying ‘more sustainable cotton’ and growers who are committed to growing cotton more sustainably.
This chasm exists due to an overly complex, disintegrated, extractive and opaque value chain dominated by fungible, faceless transactions and needless market speculation and volatility. These challenges undermine the full value and potential of agri-commodities, make transparency and traceability nearly impossible and therefore limits the opportunity for growers, manufacturer, traders and many brands to receive the recognition and financial reward for growing fibre and and making the products that power the global fibre and textile industry.

Through decades of combined experience working at all levels of the value chain, from growers to brands, finance to civil society, the Sourcery team along with our early Partners developed the Direct-to-Grower™ Solution and recently the Connect Platform that connects the value chain together and brings greater transparency, efficiency, trust and impact to the global commodity trade—tranforming it for good.
